Series Statement

My sculptural knotting appears to grow from the canvasses on the walls, challenging perceptions about fiber and its physicality. Using the knots I learned as a child and techniques I have mastered as an adult, I hand-build intricate three-dimensional forms.

The cotton string and twine used for this series is living its third life. It was originally intended to bundle magazines. Next, a weaver purchased the lot for warp. Then, I selected the cotton for use in this series because the subtle color and texture variations highlight each knot.
